What Would You Do With Your Skills In Today’s World Of AI, VR, And More Coming?
I’m just doing some late nights studying here, but our Tuesday video, we do our macro look at what’s going on. This may be backward right now, but I’ll explain what’s on the board. We do our Macro Q and A’s and we do a lot of our Insider’s Report and things like that. We talk about a lot of big things are coming in the market and what’s happening.
Verizon Buying Out
Recently, I’m sure most of you have heard that, especially if you’re in the Metro Detroit area, that GM is laying off a large chunk of people, 10,000 to 15,000 people, and Verizon, I just saw again today in LinkedIn, the notifications there. They have a nice daily report that comes out if you ever kind of looking at the market, just overall, LinkedIn has a nice little like daily report that they use to kind of put out the top information, like one, two or three bullet points, which is awesome. That kind of leads to some articles about stuff.
Today, one of the things though was Verizon buying out around 10,000 people potentially, and this is just the beginning. We’ve talked about this for a long time, the economy and where the economy’s going, what’s going to happen and just AI coming and automated everything, right? I mean, that is coming as life goes on with our kids, our grandkids. They’re going to live in a life of virtual reality and automation. What’s gonna happen to our jobs? What is going to happen? I think one of the biggest things is getting skills and reading books and possibly going to school.
Human Skills vs AI
I’m not the biggest advocate in the world for traditional education, but, absolutely personal education, some type of education to further yourself and give yourself skills, communication skills, sales skills, things that you can go ahead with in the future and make yourself marketable. Because boy, oh boy, things are coming and no one is safe, from real estate agents onto surgeons, robots doing surgery. I mean, just better than humans, right? We have 3D printing, accountants are at risk, lawyers are at risk and people think it’s just blue collar jobs and it’s just people that are skilled laborers or things like that. They’re in trouble and just jobs that seemed to maybe not take a degree or things like that and people with degrees think that they’re safe.
Have Marketable Skills
It couldn’t be more false honestly. I think that’s the scariest thing about all of this is maybe the apathy really. I would love to see what you think about this, but just the apathy and people just thinking that they’re going to be fine because they have some credential or something like that. I think that we’re in for some serious, serious changes and this is just the beginning. This is just the last couple weeks we’ve seen these come out and I get these questions all the times. I talk about this stuff all the time obviously, people ask me about what they think or what I think is coming. And this is coming more, of this and its job layoffs, it’s a buyout, it’s automation coming. Then what happens? What are you going to do? What? Or if you don’t have skills, what are you going to do? If you do have skills, what are you going to do, where are you going to take those skills? And I think that my issue for me, myself, my family and everyone else is making sure you have marketable skills, making sure you have skills that can take you into this 21st century and beyond.
So it’s very, very interesting. What are your thoughts? What do you think is coming? And this is more and more news coming out like this every single day. So I’d be curious to get your thoughts on what the pulse of the people truly is. Again, as it relates to real estate, what’s going to happen when people are losing jobs and don’t have the income maybe that they once had before? I think eventually, obviously prices start to drop in homes because people just don’t have that income that they used to have. Maybe it will be perfectly fine. We’re human beings, we’re very adaptable and we had the farming, obviously. The farming industry is huge in this country and that almost went to nothing as compared to a percentage of the population and we’ll figure it out, right? So maybe we’ll be fine, but I would love to see you know, what you think when it comes to what is coming and where things are going. I think it’s a healthy debate, a debate we need to have. So, let me know your thoughts. Again, Verizon, GM, are two of the big kind of red herrings that are just signaling changes coming. So let me know your thoughts. Would love to know, and I will talk to you guys very soon.
