Building Culture

What an epic time the last few days I had in downtown Detroit at the Westin book Cadillac hotel. I had a hiring and recruiting seminar that was just absolutely amazing. It was led by Lance Loken of "The Loken Group" in Houston, Texas. He is one of the fastest growing real estate teams in the country. I had the privilege to sit next to him at dinner and talk to him for well over an hour and pick his brain. I feel very blessed to know the people that I do and have opportunities like that. He is a special person and I felt very privileged to chat with him. His tips on building a team and being successful and strategizing were just incredible. I hope that I can have a fraction of what he has built someday. I have to thank Wendy Patton for inviting me to the event - one of my great mentors!

One of the biggest things is I took away from the weekend is working backwards to attain what you desire. What are your end goals and working backward to what the team needs in order achieve those future goals. I also really realized that there is no one way to skin a cat. So many huge producers at the seminar and they all built their teams in different ways. It is so inspiring to see these people and what they have done and where they have taken their life and their teams. The common theme I really saw between all the teams was a GREAT culture. In order to have an amazing team and provide an awesome experience you have to have a culture built within your team that everyone is driving towards. It's not about any one person, it's about the team, it's about the culture, and it's about what you provide to your customers. I learned that there's no such thing as achieving success by accident or going "organically," you have to deal with purpose and intent. You build success through repeated action toward a singular purpose.

I wish that I could have absorbed all the information at one time and retained it. It was literally impossible. There are so many pieces of information to learn that taking notes didn't even begin to cover it. It's amazing to see what people who are driven, have a big "WHY," and have a goal in front of them can do.
